HomeLet's skip to a few years later. I am playing Sonic 2 for Sega genesis at a friend of my Dad's house. This was the beginning of my Sonic adoration.
My love of Sonic was dormant until I was about 9 years old. That Christmas, my friend, Co. Webmaster, and I got our first Sonic game, Sonic Cd for Sega CD and computer. Of course, since my Mom wouldn't and still won't let my get a system, it was on computer.
Over the years my love of Sonic the Hedgehog and collection of Sonic games grew steadily. By the end of the summer of 2001, I had Sonic Cd, Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic 3, Sonic 3 and Knuckles, Sonic Racing, Sonic 3d blast, and Sonic 2. ( currently I have all those games and 4 games for Sega game gear) But then, my only love of Sonic the 'hog was mainly the video games.
By the end of 2001, I am beginning not only to like the video games, but the actual story of Sonic. Sadly, the Sonic TV shows were all off the air long ago. I am now interested in the Sega game gear, because of all the Sonic games for it.
It is early 2002. I am now collecting the Sonic comics, have every Sonic game within my reach, and have scoured the net for Sonic episode. I can't find any more ways to express my Sonic the Hedgehog fanaticism. Then the idea of creating a website where I could express all my fanaticism first starts creeping into my mind. A friend of mine, the webmaster of Sonic News, tells me about a website that can help me create a site. Unfortunately, after a vacation, I totally forget what the site's name was. For about a month, all hope is lost. But then, on a day in April, I find a web hosting site called tripod, yes, Tripod.com. My website ideas spring back into my head so quickly you couldn't say blue streak. But yet, failure again, as I realize that tripod's site builder doesn't work. I try again and again day after day, until I realize that all my tries are futile.
Then, one day a few weeks later, I find, on tripod help, another web hosting site called....Angelfire. This was, after all my trials and tribulations, my lucky break. My website building ideas went into overdrive, and on May 10, 2002, the Sonic World was created!
Since that day, I, Tailsfanatic, have worked to make the Sonic World the best Sonic site on the net. It could take LONG time, and a lot of work, but I'm ready to, as the song Sonic Boom! goes, "find the power deep inside, and make it happen".
Knuxman's Tale:
And now for the new history! It was Summer 2004. The Sonic World was all but dead. TF and I had just finished our first year of high school, and we had basically let TSW die. I, Knuxman, couldn't take it any more. But I knew we couldn't continue how we were. So I decided it was time for the revolution, the big bang, a SERVER CHANGE. I IMed up my good buddy Chaohero2, and queried him about his server. He was using an Apache 1.3.31 server..running his site off his PC. Interesting idea... And so I decided that was the path TSW should go in. We would have virtually unlimited space and bandwidth, perfect. But it was easier said than done. Servers, FTP, MySQL, PHP5 - All of these had to be installed. So I notified TF and got to work.
THREE MONTHS LATER: Holy crap that was hard! I spent my entire summer installing the server, setting up an FTP, a MySQL database, and PHP 5 w/ MySQL support. Routers had to be configured, IPs checked, domains bought - the whote kit-and-kaboodle. But it was done. Http://www.angelfire.com/sc3/sonicworld0 was now gone, replaced with HTTP://WWW.THESONICWORLD.NET. Nice.
And that's TSW today. We are one of the top 20 Sonic the Hedgehog sites on the internet. New stuff is constantly being uploaded and added. The staff works together in perfect harmony, everything is perfect. The Sonic World will only keep growing now everone - I promise.
