Background

After 15 years of speeding around at the speed of sound in the hearts of millions, Sega’s most infamous mascot, Sonic the Hedgehog has returned in this brand new 3D action and adventure game to rip it up on the next generation consoles ushering in the upcoming release of the Sony Playstation 3. In this game, combing the old Sonic Adventure based gameplay, with brand-spanking new graphics, you’ll have to fight your way as Sonic or Silver, the newest addition to the Sonic the Hedgehog universe to save the day. Shadow’s expected to be a playable character as well, but his role is more minor than Sonic and Silver’s. No word on any of the other characters as of yet or if they even play any roles in the game, but most likely, they’ll be non-playable characters.

Storyline

Princess Elise, resident of Soleanna, the City of Water, bears a dark secret known as the ‘Flames of Disaster’ involving the legendary Chaos Emerald. After learning about this horrifying secret, the evil Dr. Eggman (Dr. Ivo Robotnik) kidnaps the Princess. Realizing this, Sonic the Hedgehog sets off to save her and retrieve the Chaos Emerald as well, but his quest was interrupted by a strange white hedgehog from the future with amazing psychic abilities, named Silver, whom talks about the ‘Iblis Trigger’, an event leading to a great disaster, unexpectly caused by Sonic during his rescue mission. This ‘Iblis Trigger’ is, in fact, related to the ‘Flames of Disaster’, which is responsible for the deaths of many. Sonic must now track down Elise and the Chaos Emerald, stop Dr. Eggman, and find out what Silver truly wants.
